We decided to cancel badminton today as Kimmie wasn't free due to her cross-country errand duty as an aunt. Also, I kinda bumped my head yesterday on the low air-con duct of a bus and had a heck of a headache last night so to play safe, we called off today's game. (Gave us an excuse to have a laaazy Sunday.)
I woke up around noon (FINALLY!!! I GET TO SLEEP IN!) and lazed in bed watching recorded episodes of SpongeBob and Miami Ink. Then I cleaned up the balcony, gave Perseus a bath, scrubbed the bathroom clean and did my laundry. (So much for a lazy Sunday) After a nice long shower, I went to Parkway with Weng where we had a late lunch at Pasta Mania (I had my favourite... 4 Seasons Pizza!). I did some grocery shopping and after dumping the groceries at home, we headed down to Simei to get a fresh supply of disposable contact lenses. Unfortunately, my regular optician was not on duty so I didn't get my usual extra pair of free lenses. Darn! We then popped by the clinic where we graced Lemming, Rolling and Celest with our presence. As it was almost closing time, we hung around for a bit till they closed up and we proceeded to LJS for a dinner/drink/snack.
Just before we left, Lemming (finally) passed me my farewell gift from the company. THANK YOU GUYS! Here are a couple of pics of it:
It's an educational kit produced by National Geographic on an Ice Mummy. The kit comes with a plastic skeleton of some Neanderthal and a Sabre-toothed tiger which you place into a mold filled with water and then freezing it. After that, you get to "discover" it by using the supplied tools to chip/melt away the ice to reveal the skeleton which you have to assemble like some puzzle prior to freezing.
The tools are made of plastic (Darn!), seeing that the kit is targeted mainly at kids (and cool adults like yours truely). Two of the tools are connected to this plastic water reservoir and you press buttons of the tools to add the power of hydrodynamics (warm water melts ice) to your attempt at unravelling the mysteries of the frozen ice man/cat.
In my opinion, anything endorsed by National Geographic is COOL!!! However, my icy experience will have to wait till I have some time on my hands.
In other news, I attended my first Annual Staff Meeting (ASM) yesterday. It was held at the Singapore Conference Hall and consisted of an hour of award presentations, followed by another hour of lame sketches and games and finally ending with an hour-long speech by the CEO.
The award presentation was for people who were promoted. Yes. They actually send you up on stage whenever you get a promotion, no matter what position you are in. What's more, every person that goes on stage is accompanied by his or her picture being flashed on the giant screen on stage. The pictures are obviously taken off the company intranet, which are the pictures that you submit when you first join the company. Kind of makes me wish I had used a more professional picture. You can obviously see the Adidas stripes on my shoulders in my picture.
Other than that... my $72 umbrella FREAKING BROKE DURING USE YESTERDAY!
Thank God it was only a drizzle. Apparently my TITANIUM brolly also included plastic parts which snapped due to the forceful automatic closing action. ARGH!!!
Now I gotta see if their claim for a lifetime warranty is true.
